 Course Description

  

The course aims to provide an application of dynamic plant risk assessment methodologies and an overview of the new issues in the emergency operation of nuclear power plants. Various emergency operation procedures and new designs of plant safety features will be discussed. Some methods of dynamic risk assessment in consideration of plant condition changes will be addressed. The topics of the course include: human operator actions, emergency operation procedures for new safety systems, dynamic risk assessment, uncertainty analysis, and prognostic features for safety enhancement. The students are expected to have enough background knowledge about plant safety systems and static risk assessment methods. They are expected to investigate one of course topics and to perform mid-term and term projects which extend the coverage of conventional risk assessment methods. This will enhance their understanding on the trends of the latest research and development of safety issues in nuclear field.
